At the 2013 National Railway Heritage Awards, held in London on 4 December 2013, the Monument Station Project was awarded the FirstGroup Craft Skills Award for the meticulous restoration of the London Underground station both above and below the ground. The plaque received by the entrants was formally unveiled at the station on Tuesday 4 November 2014 by Ronnie Maher, Senior Project Manager of FirstGroup, and Phil Hufton, Chief Operating Officer of London Underground. The event started with an introduction at Fishmongers’ Hall, where the invited guests were briefed on the history of the Monument and Bank stations and plans for their future. Following that the plaque itself was unveiled at Monument station.
