Tuesday 15 October 2019 saw the official unveiling of the plaque awarded to the North Yorkshire Moors Historical Railway Trust for work undertaken at Goathland station. The project, which saw the restoration of the waiting room originally constructed by the North Eastern Railway in 1872 and the construction of a new shop, was rewarded at the National Railway Heritage Awards on 5 December 2018 with the London Underground Operational Enhancement Award. The plaque was unveiled by Gareth Leslie, Director of Design and Heritage for Transport for London.
