Thursday 1 November 2018 saw six members of the committee travel to Huddersfield to see the official unveiling of the plaque awarded to Mykanada Ltd for the work undertaken in converting the northern booking office at the Grade I listed station into the King’s Head public house. The plaque, which was unveiled by Oliver Turner, of Transpennine Express representing sponsor Great Western Railway, and Bruce Travis of Mykanada Ltd, was announced at the 2017 National Railway Heritage Awards in December 2017 for the outstanding work in restoring the seriously damaged fabric of this important building.
